Although actual 'research into the effect of altitude upon the human organism' (one of the topics eligible for support listed in the MEF's Memorandum of Association) must obviously be carried out 'in the field', there has long been a need to collate the results obtained by all the expeditions that have undertaken such work. Working with University College, London, a database that can be consulted by future climbers planning to explore the high mountains of the world is now in place: www.case.ucl.ac.uk/altitude
