07/12 - New Zealand Himalaya Alpine Style

Changabang (6864m) in the Kumoan Himalaya is a very dramatic mountain so inevitably attracts people hoping to climb it. These climbers attempted two new routes, Brown & Jefferies on the North Face and Alder, Beare & Darragh on the West Ridge, both groups operating independently above ABC. Unfortunately, both were curtailed at c.6200m by a massive storm that dumped 50cm of snow at BC: this also prevented them attempting their secondary objective, a new route on Purbi Dunagiri (6489m).
