Help with 'SUBMIT' button(when sending the MEF Referee's Questionnaire Proforma via Internet mail)The instructions given here are for a PC (instructions for the Apple Macintosh are very similar and will be posted on this website soon). Explanation: With the normal email from your computer (a desktop email application such as Outlook) things are simple just fill in the form and hit the SUBMIT button, with internet mail services (accessed via your internet browser) a few extra simple steps are required. STEP 1. Download the MEF Referee's Questionnaire Proforma (MEF Referee proforma Rev3B June2011.pdf). STEP 2. Having completed the Proforma Referees should click the form's SUBMIT button. They will then see the Select Email Client window that will look like this:
STEP 3. Ensure that you click the radio button to the left of Internet Email (as shown above) STEP 4. Click the OK button.....a new window will give you the chance to browse your computer's folders for a good place to save the file produced (MEF Referee proforma Rev3B June2011.xml). STEP 5. Choose a location you will be able to find easily later and save the file. You will see from the .xml file extension that the form no longer a .pdf file but a data file. All the essential data is extracted from the form and presented in a short version (without the full questions). If the file were opened it would look similar to this fictitious example:
This is the short version information that must be returned manually to bill.ruthven@btinternet.com STEP 6. the .xml file that you saved in STEP 5 can be sent as an email attachment to bill.ruthven@btinternet.com. This completes the SUBMIT task. Alternatively STEP 6. Open the file MEF Referee proforma Rev3B June2011.xml that you have just saved in STEP 5. Highlight all the text and copy (Ctrl + C) STEP 7. Log into you internet email account and prepare to send an email to bill.ruthven@btinternet.com. Click into the text area of the email and past (Ctrl + V) the text copied in STEP 6 into the email. STEP 8. You are now ready to send the email to the MEF (it would be helpful to have the name of the expedition in the subject line) NB: There is no automatic aknowledgement returned to the sender at the point email is recieved by the MEF. |
