British Hindu Raj 1969

The expedition travelled overland from the UK to Rawalpindi where they met their liaison officer and made detailed plans for the expedition proper, some of their permissions having been granted rather late in the day. From here they travelled to Chitral and from there to Lasht, where base camp was established on 31 July. Reconnaissance revealed that the southeast ridge of Thui II offered a potential line of ascent and a carry to a snow bowl at 18,000ft was undertaken. From here an attempt was made on the summit, reaching a height of 20,100 feet, but being abandoned the following day in poor weather. A number of smaller peaks were summitted in the course of the reconnaissance of Thui II
