British Kang Taiga 1979

This expedition sought to make an ascent of Kang Taiga (6779m) by either the mountain's NE or N ridge. While the mountain had been climbed twice previously, neither ascent had been by these features. Additionally, the team hoped to complete their ascent in alpine style. Finding the approach to the NE ridge to be too complex and time-consuming, they instead turned their attentions to the N ridge. An attempt on this saw the team reach 6,000m but bad weather forced them to retreat from here. Shortly afterwards they decided to abandon the expedition due to the poor weather and the threat of serac fall on the N ridge.
