Yorkshire Ramblers Club Dorje Lakpa

This club expedition hoped to make the first official British ascent of Dorje Lakpa, 6,980m, in the Jugal Himal. Approaching from the south, they attempted to climb the peak by its West Ridge. They experienced a heavy snowfall which produced a massive cornice, making it impossible to stick to the crest. The attempt was abandoned at 6,100m when the ridge became much steeper and was threatened by avalanches.
