The new guidelines clarify the level of funding that successful applicants can expect to receive and the way in which supplementary grants such as the Alison Chadwick Award operate. There is also additional detail regarding our expectations of scientific expeditions, particularly around the provision of extra time in which to submit a final report when there is a need to process large quantities of data.
Finally, we have also updated the MEF position on helicopter use. Broadly, we will not support the use of helicopters for access to mountains or remote wilderness areas unless there are exceptional circumstances which are made clear in the grant application.
You can find a copy of the updated application guidelines, as well as our environmental guidelines and application forms, here.
Our next funding round closes to applications on the 30th September 2023.
