British K2 1993

Early onset of the monsoon with heavy precipitation and strong winds prevented this team of seven from getting higher than 7,700m on the Abruzzi ridge. They assisted in the evacuation of an injured Swedish climber from this height and found the remains of the American, Art Gilkey, who disappeared in an avalanche in 1953. Their secondary objective of installing a hydro-electric system at the village of Mango was completed satisfactorily.
