British Peruvian Andes 1979
Having initially planned to climb in Pakistan, this team of two were forced to change their plans at the last minute and instead of Pakistan, they travelled to Peru with the intention of attempting the southwest ridge of Chakrarahu (6108m). On arrival, they found that the ridge was coated with unstable ice mushrooms and elected to switch their focus, attempting a number of previously unclimbed faces and successfully making the first ascents of the southwest face of Nevada Rurek and the southwest face of Pirámide de Garcilazo. They also repeated the northwest ridge of Yerupajá.
