Obra Valley 5,000m Peaks 2008

When their plans for a return trip to Nyenchen Tanglha had to be abandoned due to the Chinese ban on trips to Tibet, this team was fortunately able to select this alternative destination in the Western Garhwal that did not require a permit. They planned to explore the upper reaches of the Obra Valley and Devkir glaciers, and make first ascents of as many peaks as possible over 5,000m. They visited three major cols overlooking the Maninda Supin and Zupika valleys. Heavy snow and zero visibility thwarted their attempt on Peak 5760m, however they did achieve the first ascent of Peak 5165m by its north-west ridge at PD.
