After two years of reduced activity due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the MEF is extremely pleased to announce that we have been able to make substantial grants totalling £120,000 so far in 2022.

Grants have been provided to a total of 27 exploratory climbing, mountaineering, caving and cutting-edge scientific research expeditions, with more funds due to be provided before the end of the year.

MEF Honorary Secretary John Porter celebrated the renewed funding activity:

"It's fantastic to be back supporting exploratory projects again, using our funds to nurture the next generation of pioneering mountaineers and to enable vital scientific research in our mountain regions.

Our message to the community is that we are very much back in action and are eager to receive applications".
