Karavshin-Lailiak '99

Parnell and Pretty travelled out in advance of the others, intending to spend a month climbing in the Lailiak area. After two weeks with little more than bouldering due to bad weather, they decided to move to Karavshin with the hope of an improvement. Although they were joined here by the other team members, they continued to operate as independent pairs or solo climbers, achieving a number of new one-day routes up to E6 6b, before illness and the ever closer activities of the Taliban prompted a withdrawal from the area.
