Sheffield Karakoram 1997

This team visited the Choktoi Glacier with the intention of making first ascents of as many peaks as possible. They were successful in climbing a subsidiary summit, 5,800m, of the Biacherai Towers by an easy couloir on the NW face, and the N Face/Aréte of a rock buttress, 5,400m, on Latok III with pitches up to E2, 5c. Hanipispur Spur provided good mixed climbing up to Scottish III, whilst an attempt on Hanipispur S Summit (6,047m) was aborted at 5,900m, when two of the team were badly affécted by the altitude.
