British Western Kokshaal-Too 2001

Although there have been several expeditions to the Kokshaal-Too area of Kyrgyzstan in recent years, as far as is known, none had previously visited either the Gori Sarybeles or Khrebet Kyokkiar areas. In the first of these, this team climbed four peaks with heights up to 4,550m, and in the second they climbed two routes to a summit plateau, and to the summit of Pt. 4445. They are in consultation with the Kyrgyz Alpine Club to select suitable names for the peaks, but consider that both areas still have plenty of opportunities for quality mountaineering with a wide range of climbing standard.
