Welsh Western Patagonia 2005

These stalwarts with short memories returned to Patagonia in the hope of at last making the first ascent of Cerro Aguilera (2,500m). During some of their previous attempts they had not even set foot on the mountain, but in 2004 [MEF 04/17] they found what seemed to be a satisfactory approach from the south-east, so this year were hopeful of topping out. Alas, the elements were against them once again with only two days of 'good' weather during four weeks in the area. The wind was so strong at one stage that their tent 'exploded'.
