Since 2023 the Mount Everest Foundation, in partnership with the Alpine Club and the British Mountaineering Council, has provided financial support to the Young Alpinist Group (YAG).
The Young Alpinist Group is a support pathway developed and led by British alpinist Tom Livingstone. Operating on a three-year cycle, the group provides mentorship to ten young mountaineers from the UK and Ireland.
Through regular trips, expeditions, and mentorship from older climbers, YAG members are able to progress faster, more safely, and more efficiently than they would otherwise. In this way, the programme contributes greatly to the overall health of British and Irish alpinism, equipping new generations of mountaineers with the skills and experience necessary to make pioneering ascents in the Greater Ranges.
